DESCRIPTION:
Diamond grit sanding blocks
Size: 3.5" X 2.125" X 1.25" thick
Solid foam-backed pads with diamond grit
(Price is each, and they are sold separately.)
  • 60 grit (coarse) for rough heavy clay or glaze
  • 120 grit (medium) for general purpose
  • 240 grit (fine) for smoothing
  • 400 grit for smoothing
  • 800 grit for smoothing
  • 1800 grit for polishing
  • 3500 grit for polishing
USES:
  • Smooth off high-fired clay, glaze, bisque, tile, stone or glass
  • Smoothing the foot or the sides and rim of a ceramic piece
  • Smooths foot to prevent scratching a table
  • Prevents foot from snagging a tablecloth
BENEFITS:
  • Can be used wet or dry (doesn't deteriorate in water)
  • Far outlast sandpaper
  • Far less fatigue than sandpaper
  • Much easier and faster than other types of abrasives
CAUTIONS:
  • Use all safety precautions
  • Foam colors, and diamond surface color and texture, may vary
  • Keep out of the reach of children
Note: The higher-grit pads have resin-based "dots," which are designed for smoothing only after adequate smoothing with lower-grit pads. The dots will show wear as the pads are used. This is normal and how they are designed to work. Trying to polish a piece without adequate smoothing with lower-grit diamond pads first will cause the dots to wear much more rapidly.

Amazing & easy finishing touch

Ok, so I’m frugal and also dislike the sanding stage. I’ve finally reached the stage of adding a little finishing touches to my pottery (7 years in!). I purchased the 60 & 120 grit sponges and immediately blown away. I typically buy the disposable sanding items from dollar stores and call it done. Since venturing into different clay bodies, some pieces are still a bit too rough on the bottom. I tested the 60 grit on a few finished pieces and it took very little effort to smooth a few pieces to give a finish touch. I also had one finished piece that had a random attached glaze crystal from winterwood in the bottom, came right off!! I highly recommend these sponges and can’t believe I waited so long to purchase!

Sanding block

A very handy tool for smoothing the bottoms of pots. Its great for small pots. (Big pots, too).
