Quality Tool with Limited Practicality Due to Size

I really wanted to love the DiamondCore T7 Avocado trimming tool because the design and concept have a lot of potential. The blade shape is interesting and feels like it should offer good control for detailed trimming work. The build quality is also what you’d expect—solid and well-made.

That said, after giving it a fair shot over the past six months, I’ve found that it’s just too small to be practical for my workflow. It doesn’t remove material efficiently, and I often find myself reaching for larger tools that can handle both shaping and cleanup more effectively. Because of its size, it feels more limiting than helpful, especially on anything beyond very fine detail work.

I can see this working for very specific use cases or for potters who prefer ultra-precise, light trimming—but for everyday use, it hasn’t earned a regular spot in my toolkit. Unfortunately, this is one of those tools that will likely end up retired to a drawer.

Great, but needs to be a little bigger

This is one of my very first DiamondCore tools, and I’m sad I didn’t get on board sooner - they cut like a dream! My only real complaint is that I wish the shape itself was bigger. To echo the sentiment of another reviewer, the T7 just isn’t quite as versatile as a standard loop tool. If I could do it again, I’d purchase the XL version of this instead.

    My 1st Diamondcore Tool

I've been wanting to invest in a diamondcore tool for what feels like a lifetime! And I finally did. I did, I decided. I will spend the money on a quality tool. But then what shape?! I picked the T7 avocado shape, because I assumed it would be very similar to the standard (very versatile) large loop tool we all know and love.
Now don't get me wrong. The blade is lovely, and I was immediately kicking myself for not taking the diamondcore plunge sooner. Buuuuut, I really don't love the shape. Or rather I should say, the size of the shape. It's too small, and it feels really limiting when I'm using it. I wish I had gone with a different shape. Maybe if this was like my 4th diamondcore too, it would be a welcome addition to the arsenal. But it's not. I guess I just expected more of a workhorse, and kinda feel like I got a 1 trick pony. But I'm still saving up and looking forward to my 2nd diamondcore.
